Sometimes nature has already given us the perfect reminder of the journey we're on.  Look closely at many statues and temple sculptures in Bali and you’ll notice the figure standing or seated on a lotus-shaped base. The lotus becomes a sacred foundation representing the idea of rising above worldly difficulties while remaining connected to the world below.

If you’ve ever walked around Bali, you’ve probably noticed the lotus appearing again and again… floating quietly in temple ponds, blooming in gardens, and even carved beneath the feet of Hindu deities and sacred statues.

And there is a beautiful reason for this. The lotus is deeply symbolic in Balinese Hinduism and wider Hindu traditions. Growing from the mud beneath the water, it rises through the surface and opens into a beautiful flower. A powerful symbol of purity, spiritual growth, and the journey from the earthly to the divine.

Look closely at many statues and temple sculptures and you’ll notice the figure standing or seated on a lotus-shaped base. The lotus becomes a sacred foundation representing the idea of rising above worldly difficulties while remaining connected to the world below.

And then there are the real lotus flowers growing in the ponds.  Their roots remain beneath the water while their blossoms reach toward the light, reminding us that growth doesn't require us to escape where we come from. We can stay rooted while continuing to rise.

At Fuller Life Bali, you'll find lotus ponds woven into the landscape, alongside statues, gardens, and spaces for reflection.

Perhaps that's part of what makes the lotus so fitting here. Rooted. Growing. Opening. Rising.

Sometimes nature has already given us the perfect reminder of the journey we're on.
